In order to continuously build up the cutting-edge platform for the field of Plant Protection, a bioinformatics server was purchased for Scientific and Technological Innovation and Talent Training Platform. Currently, the construction of the computer room, equipment installation and commissioning, and training of operation and maintenance personnel have been completed. On October 19th, the platform held a technical training activity for ordinary users on the introduction and use of biological information servers. More than 40 faculties and students attended the training session for this new equipment. At the meeting of this training, the server application engineer systematically introduced the relevant configuration and resources of the server, remote access login methods, the task management system, appointment and use precautions, conducted on-site demonstrations and practical operations, and answered questions of faculties and students.
The bioinformatics server is the core equipment which uses computer tools to solve various computational problems in contemporary biological development. It is the main platform for mining bioinformatics data, analyzing systematic evolution rules, screening efficient bioactive compounds, and other scientific calculations. The newly purchased biological information server includes one management login node, one testing node, ten CPU computing nodes, one large memory node, one GPU node, one distributed data storage set, and related auxiliary facilities, with a total of 834 cores and 320TB effective storage space. The configuration of the biological information server aims to provide basic bioinformatics analysis platforms for researchers.
The project implementation was greatly assisted by Prof. Wang Dun, Associate Prof. Wang Qinhu, and Associate Prof. Li Yuxiang. Currently, this equipment has been added to our university's large instrument sharing platform.
