From August 22 to 25, the 2024 Academic Seminar on Green Prevention and Control of Plant Diseases and Pests in Northwest China was held in Jiuquan, Gansu. This academic seminar was sponsored by the Shaanxi Provincial Plant Pathology Society, the Disease Resistance Breeding Professional Committee of the Chinese Phytopathological Society, the Agricultural Entomology Professional Committee of the Chinese Entomological Society, the Gansu Provincial Plant Protection Society, the Shaanxi Provincial Entomological Society, and the College of Plant Protection of Northwest A&F University Organized by the Institute of Plant Protection of the Gansu Academy of Agricultural Sciences, more than 300 experts, scholars and business representatives in the field of plant protection attended the meeting.

Professor Hu Xiaoping, chairman of the Shaanxi Phytopathology Society, was invited to give a keynote report at the conference titled "Opportunities and Challenges in Monitoring and Early Warning of Crop Diseases and Pests". Doctoral student Zhang Taixue and master student Zhao Jingchen participated in the postgraduate forum and made reports titled "Origin and Transmission Path of Wheat Stripe Rust in China" and "Evaluation of Stem Rot and Head Blight Resistance of Wheat Varieties" respectively. After 9 expert reviews, master student Zhao Jingchen won the Graduate Forum Excellence Award, and doctoral student Zhang Taixue won the first prize of the Graduate Forum.
